Incredible India...True Luxury and Rich Culture

February 24, 2016

My recent trip to India was definitely one that evoked all five senses. A perfect blend of mysticism, warmth, sensuality, beauty and natural surroundings, purity, peace, cultural experiences and spiritual peace. To describe something intangible, something that only can be experienced or felt to understand its true meaning…I will take this risk in describing one of my best travelling experiences so far.

No doubt India is an exotic destination, one of the richest and most diverse cultures that I ever saw in my life.

My stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas Hotel in Agra was one of the most remarkable stays I had, and is undoubtedly the most luxurious way to experience the Taj Mahal in Agra. The Amarvillas is repeatedly ranked amongst the best hotels in the world, and its not hard to see why!

The service is unique, but the architectural beauty of the building is something transcendent. Oberoi Amarvilas, which is the only resort where every room has a balcony that overlooks the Taj Mahal just 600 metres away! Having a view of the Taj Mahal from my bedroom balcony probably ranks as one of my favorite hotel memories ever.

The lobby was also beautiful, and we were immediately offered Hot towels and refreshing ginger and lemon Indian style drinks as we were welcomed to have a seat on the balcony as they processed check-in.

This Hotel was true Luxury! The hotel is approached along a sweeping driveway, verdant with native trees and lit by flaming torches. Just inside, is a Mughal style quadrant is ornamented with cascading fountains and framed by an arched passageway and gold leaf frescoes. The hotel had a fantastic display of Royal Indian Style and boasts one of the most luxurious spas in India, even with views of the Taj Mahal and claims to make guests feel like royalty!

My Visit to the Taj Mahal was beyond expectations. Seeing this marvel is real was nothing like I expected. The energy around the Taj Mahal was so pure and breathtaking! Pictures simply can’t do it justice. It is one of those places where you can’t experience unless you’re there. The Taj Mahal displayed pure beauty with its totally symmetrical splendor of its design and gardens.  Taj Mahal was no doubt a tribute to beauty!

At Taj Mahal, there were hunderds of professional photographers waiting to take your photos. If you visit Taj Mahal, you will have so many photos you will cannot decide which ones are your favourite (Im having this problem right about now!).

This is another favourite! It shows the symmetry of the Taj Mahal at every angle!

In India, I ate the most exquisite and tasty meals, bursting of flavour! Just seeing every dish arriving at the table tickled my taste buds! Hot dishes, of all colors and spices. Live classical music, the sounds of tabla and sitar and traditional dance made every meal felt like it can never be as good unless eaten in India. I was totally immersed in my food experience. Some foods were a mystery, and each bite was a guessing game and a temptation. One of the days I had dinner in a restaurant where the light was very low and had a sweet smell of incense in the air that was quite engaging, which reminded me of the perfume Coco Mademoiselle Chanel.

And of course India would not be complete without mentioning my elephant ride at the Amber Fort in Jaipur, but I prefer to call it Pink City! I really felt like a queen! These elephants were casually roaming the streets of Rajasthan, all painted with vivid colors such as orange, red and blue. It really felt like a real life Indian Safari.

Jaipur is also know for its screen printing with natural vegetable dyes on cotton and silk fabrics. I visited one of these factories and it was amazing to see the quality or art and craftsmanship that goes into these products we buy. The factory also did printing for Hermes Silks and other designer brands. Of course I couldn't resist buying a few yards of Silk!

Finally I was on the way to a friend’s wedding in India, which took place in New Delhi. This experience was like no other Indian wedding I experienced. The food, dance, music and festivities completed my India experience! I felt at some points that I was at an Indian Vogue Fashion Festival. Seeing all the latest trends in Indian Fashion, jewelry and Indian décor  was very mesmerizing.

India is one of my favorite destinations. Its really Incredible India as is is usually referenced!

Have any of you ever visited India? Feel free to share your experience with me!
