Just when you were getting over your Carnival Tabanca, I’m here to bring it all back to you.
Now I don’t know about you but I remember when I was a little girl, I used to wake up every Carnival Tuesday to look at the Parade of the bands on the television.
The costumes have always been beautiful, and bands like Legends, Spice and Harts graced the stage with thousands of masqueraders waving their flags!
Fast forward 15 years later, I am a big girl now (as Patrice would say) and all I want to do every year is “Play Mas.”
This year, I was so excited. I counted down the days until I got to dance on the nation’s road. As I arrived on the streets of Port of Spain on Carnival Monday, I realized one thing and one thing only: These people did not come out to play, they came out to slay!!! I'm sure you will agree!
Trinidad has some of the most beautiful people in the world! Everyone looked so stunning and the detail on the costumes, was comparable to the world’s best. The designs get more elaborate every year and I truly believe that the quality can be compared to the best of Western Fashion! I can even imagine some world class celebrities wearing some of the intricate and glamourous creations that I saw during the season. I also noticed costumes with power shoulders, exaggerated hips and other fashion statement trends!
Each and every year we outdo ourselves and I am so excited to see what our talented designers come up with next year and in years to come.
Kudos to everyone that contributed to our chicest Carnival yet!

Let’s talk about this body wear, Sarah Jane Wadell rocks this finely detailed bodysuit that looks like something straight out of the Moulin Rouge. We especially love the exaggerated silhouette, making this by far one of the more exquisite costumes of Carnival 2017!

Honestly, there is not a thing about this look that we do not love. The lace, the shoulders, the accessories are all divine! This is the stuff Beyonce's concert costumes are made of! But we didn’t expect anything less from Shoma Persad of local label Tobye&Shoma.
The fabric used for this costume was actually used by Walter Mendez(Los Angeles, California) to make one of his gowns.

We don’t need to see that crown to know that this one is royalty.

So we’ll always love feathers but with this shoulder detail who needs them?!
Former Miss Norway Monica Olivia Pederson looks like she was born for this! Let’s not ignore the matching cup!

Let's not forget to mention, masqueraders really stepped up their accessories game! Halle absolutely rocked this puka shell statement piece!
And of course, not forgetting our male masqueraders!

And of course... Trinidad's Sugar boy!
So I don’t know about you, but frankly I am elated that the days of male options ranging from ….board shorts…to ...not so nice board shorts are OVER!
